SB2.2 Saturday afternoon group - Christmas Homework from December 15

1. First homework was to write a creative Christmas story, using some (not all, or it will get confusing) of the ten creative principles I went through in class. I've copied these below so you can see them. I said there was no real word limit for this, as it was creative writing.

TEN CREATIVE PRINCIPLES
Principle One: Change the dimension
Principle Two: Change the colour
Principle Three: Change the material
Principle Four: Change the place
Principle Five: Change the time
Principle Six: Change the purpose
Principle Seven: Change the velocity or type of movement
Principle Eight: Multiply
Principle Nine: Reverse Roles

Principle Ten: Animate or Personify

There's a handout for that with examples, but I can't put it here as it's copyright!

2. Second homework was to do the Reading and Use of English paper from the practice exam at the back of your student's book. It's important to go through this as you'll have a mock exam in January.

SB1.2 Friday Group - Christmas Homework

You don't want to spend your whole holiday studying English, I know, but it's important to do a little bit. So...

1. Do one or two activities from the workbook from the units we've done so far in the student's book. You choose what you want to do.

2. Read something in English. It can be fact or fiction. It doesn't have to be long. It can be part of a book, something from a magazine, something from an English website etc. Or read something from our LearnEnglish Teens website:
B1 Reading
B2 Reading (for more confident students)!

Make a note of what you read so that you can tell other students about it in the next class.

1. Do exercise 1, page 46, student's book - match the books to the teenagers. 
2. Read something in English. It can be fact or fiction. It doesn't have to be long. Make a note of what you read so that you can tell other students about it in the next class. 

STUDENTS WHO MISSED THE LAST CLASS TODAY: 
Read the text on page 42 of the student's book and do exercises 2, 4 and 5.

I talked to you about dictionaries this morning. There are some quite good online dictionaries, like the Macmillan Online Dictionary . 

It's still a good idea to have a good learner's dictionary. Here are two examples:
